How to make clothing longer - Add a fabric panel to clothes to make them bigger and add length - Easy hand sewing no machine

 

I was asked to show how to make baby clothes bigger as little ones can outgrow their clothing so quickly! This was also a perfect opportunity to show how to add fabric panels and make any type of clothing bigger. 

For this onesie, I first added panels on the sides to make it wider. Now we are adding a fabric panel across the middle to make it longer. This is the same way you can add length to any size and style of clothing.

And after you have added the panel, the result still looks really good! You can play around with combining different fabric colours and patterns. This would work great for growing children, but also for dresses, shirts, pants, and anything you want to adjust the size of.
