Make a dress with a lace tablecloth - Cut hole in center of lacy table cloth and make 70s style poncho - Easy DIY dress
I could not believe how easy, fast, and beautiful this dress came out. I had the idea for a while and finally tried it by cutting a hole in the center of a vintage tablecloth. I thought I might have to make sleeves or do some sewing, but when I tried it on it was stunning as is. All I did was cut a neckhole, throw it over my shoulders, and I had my new favourite dress/ poncho/ coverup.
Now I feel a mix of wanting to wear it all the time, to the beach and lake, and also wanting to save it for special occasions because I love it so much. It is also so comfortable because I just wear bike shorts and a tank top underneath. Then you pop this over your head and feel like a boho, 70s, flower child.
If you have any tablecloths that you don't use, especially pretty lace ones, this is a tutorial you have to try. I can't wait to find more lacy tablecloths to make some for my friends.
In terms of time and effort vs reward, this tutorial cannot be beat. With just one hole cut, it takes a table cloth into a gorgeous dress. I get so many compliments when I wear it and love telling people what it was made from. It is one of those pieces that catches the eye, and is so easy to wear.
Please make one for yourself and let me know how much you like it!
