How to make a dress into a skirt and shirt set - Cut a dress in half so it becomes a skirt and matching shirt - Make your own DIY summer set

 When I tried on this dress at a clothing swap, I instantly had the vision of making it into a skirt and shirt set. And I knew there was potentially enough fabric to do it! Hand sewing the skirt with elastic was a little trickier than I predicted, but the result is worth all the effort. 

Now I have a super cute top and skirt, to wear together or as separate pieces. Although the set is the real show stopper. As always with a new set, I felt so good in this when I tried it on and I know I will get many compliments. 

Keep your eyes out for a large dress that could become a matching skirt set, and reusing material that already exists!
